Math + Science Club is a student-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing students’ interest in math and science. The organization consists of two main branches: the Twin Cities Math Students’ Circle and the Science Club.
The Twin Cities Math Students’ Circle was created to build a strong and inclusive community for students passionate about math in an area where few such circles existed. The circle focuses on deep mathematical thinking through problem-solving sessions, interactive lectures, and collaborative workshops. In addition to our regular meetings, we organize larger events to foster deeper engagement and collaboration among students. These include mathematician roundtables, math tournaments, and student panels to encourage deeper engagement and collaboration.
The Science Club aims to spark and grow students' interests in science through hands-on activities, science lectures, and Science Bowl preparation. Our events bring students together to explore STEM topics in fun, challenging, and meaningful ways. We've also organized events such as scientist roundtables, STEM parties, and Science Bowl tournaments.
Since our founding in summer 2023, we’ve attracted over 170 students from more than 30 schools across the Twin Cities area. Our weekly in-person meetings, held at local libraries, are primarily geared toward middle and high school students.
Together, Math + Science Club provides a welcoming space where curious students from diverse backgrounds can meet, learn, and grow together.

A typical lecture
"Although math and science can sometimes be an intimidating area for many kids, Michael has created a space where ALL kids feel safe to share, learn and compete. It was wonderful seeing kids learn from each other and gain confidence from sharing their knowledge in that group setting."
"Thank you to all the brilliant high schoolers who came to share their experiences with the kids (& parents). It was so inspiring for my young daughter to see so many bright girls speak positively about school, using time wisely, prioritizing sleep, minimizing distractions, finding positive friend groups. I know she felt inspired. I appreciated the messages to the parents - I feel inspired to be better too."
"Michael has a great sense of humor which helps keep us relaxed, and it also helps that he is a hard worker and leads by example. He always listens to his students, and makes sure their ideas are valued. "
